Bradley and I attended the 2008 NCAA Gymnastics Championships this weekend in Athens, Georgia with several other families from High Flight Gymnastics. We were able to attend all sessions. The University of Georgia Gymdogs won first place. This was the fourth year in a row they have won first place. It is very exciting to attend a college sporting event, especially when the home team is competing. There was a lot of energy in Stegeman Collesium and it was great to watch high level gymnastics.
Gymnastics is a very intense sport which requires years of practice to achieve the level of gymnatics we enjoyed this weekend. Many of these girls were seniors and this was their last competition. I think all who achieve any level of gymnastics are winners!!
Below are the final team scores from the NCAA Championships:
1 Georgia 197.125
2 Utah 196.944
3 Florida 196.893
4 Alabama 196.562
5 Michigan 196.542
Notice the point difference between 1st and 5th place...less than one point!!! .583
TOUGH SPORT!!!!

I can just see the anticipation in each of the girls as they set on the edge of their seats watching as these "grown" up girls were competing in a sport like no other sport, intently watching the flex of each muscle, the turn of each hand movement and finger movement. All the while thinking, will I be like her? Can I do what she did, will I ever be as good as that. The answer from one so young? YES I CAN!!!!
Thank you to all the Moms so fervently involved in your children's lives.
